What is 'Spirituality'?
Spirituality is not about practicing a religion or a belief about who God is or what God does. Spirituality is a part of the four aspects of the life of all human beings. We have our physical body, we have our metal, thinking faculties, our emotional feelings and we have in addition, our spirituality, but what does this word mean and can we live without it?
Spirituality is related to something unlike body, mind and emotions because it relates to how we live our life and the precepts and behaviour that we exhibit all day every day.
A spiritual path involves kindness, compassion, fairness and justice, peace, transparency, truth and equality. It relates to our beliefs about ourselves in a wider context than the self serving 'me' society that is both fashionable and promoted within the New Age movement. Is it possible to be walk a spiritual path and not care about the ecology of our planet? Is it possible to be a spiritual person and exploit or mistreat other people? No, spirituality involves a belief that we have been given this life to improve our community and the wider world and the lives of those here and now and also in the future when we might not be here ourselves.
How is it possible to walk a spiritual path with so many difficulties and problems? If we all caring a little to make the world a better place, everyone's contribution would be added together to make the task less onerous on those who are striving everyday to try to keep the balance.
If you are on a spiritual path, please leave a message below about how you contribute to making the world a better place because this is the hall-mark of a truly spiritual person.
