What a great idea! At last someone is speaking up for the vast majority of Humans everywhere. We don’t want war. We want peace! It is only the people in power – the politicians, the military leaders and the arms manufacturers - who want war. The ordinary people around the world would like to live in peace – if they could. Yet those in the governments of whatever country you could care to name see other countries or nations as “the enemy”:- someone who is a “threat” to our country, to our economy, to our power.
But in reality these “countries” who are a threat are actually a small minority of the whole population – extremists who might be an ordinary citizen or a politician with the power to change things. If we are honest with ourselves we realise that although people from other countries might speak a different language to us, have different cultures, do things different to us, we are still the same Human Beings with the same wants and needs.
What this guy in Israel has done, thanks to the power of the Internet is to show how most people feel. They don’t want to bomb each other or cause hurt to another Human Being. In effect he has said that he as a citizen of the State of Israel is declaring peace on the people of a supposed enemy of his country, Iran. If only the leaders of each country in the world could do the same…
When you look at armed conflicts around the world it is always a small minority out of the majority who want to fight. Yet in the end hundreds of thousands, if not millions get drawn into the conflict. People are forced to take sides and the only winners are the arms manufacturers who make millions from the weapons which are used to try and force the enemy into submission. Think of all that military hardware that is being used in the conflict in Syria at the moment.
Yet as we come to the end of 2012 there are many positive signs for peace and harmony from various parts of the world. There is truly an awakening going on. Hopefully this one act of reconciliation in Israel will start a new grass roots movement where change will come from the ordinary people and not the politicians on high.
