Astral Sleep.
Sleep little children sleep
as you rise to touch the stars
where the winds brush lightly upon your face
and the clouds above you part
the air it feels so cool now
as it passes through your hair
where the angels smile and vow to keep
your soul in Gods dear care
to far and distant lands you'll fly
the stars they'll guide your way
your candles of the night are they
and in God’s love you'll will stay
the sea it crashes far below
on this cold December night
it’s spray brushes against your face
and casts rainbows in the night
like many who have gone before you
you'll travel towards the light
oh yes, you will be cared for
as the angels, hold you tight
souls from distant lands, are they
who's lives are smashed and torn
but it's in their presence you will stand
before you reach your dawn
but don't forget dear children
to speak of what you've seen
and pass those words of wisdom
from the lands, where you know, you've been
speak your truths so dearly
of the love you feel inside
for the children now left far behind
who's lives are cast aside
speak little children speak now
of the child who's filled with pain
from the hunger in their stomachs
as they sleep out in the rain
so never doubt those wings you've seen
or the winds that kissed your face
as your soul was lifted upward
in stillness and in grace
sleep little children sleep now
as the stars around you shine
a lesson you have learned tonight
to share those things called ‘mine’
but don't forget your bounty
of blankets, sheets, and pillows
and learn to share these gifts of yours
with the children of the ghettos
the rain it's tapping gently now
upon your window sill
but don't forget the children
so silent pale and still
so sleep little children sleep
as you drift away from sorrow
remember the child of the road
who might never see tomorrow
and as you grow up tall and fine
wrapped in a life with little pain
never forget the children
who sleep out in the rain.
