THREE THINGS THERE ARE THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK.
The arrow shot forth on its destined track.
The appointed hour that could not wait.
And the helpful word that was spoken too late.
( From the ancient Persian )
How often do we look at the wider view
investigating each little clue
presenting themselves for our attention.
Yet we remain firmly held by fears pervasive glue,
unwilling, afraid to follow through.
How often do we see our role
and determinedly begin to walk the path to our goal
yet somewhere along the way become bogged down,
our efforts wane and never do we make the effort
to rise and begin again
the arrow of our purpose slain-we sink back into the mundane
How many appointed hours have we not kept
because of our fear-because of others saying we are inept
when deep down we know we should have leaped
to take the proffered opportunity.
How many harmful acts - physical, emotional, mental
have we ourselves performed or witnessed?.
causing untold hurt or cruelly causing hope to be extinguished.
And if and when comes remorse how fervently we wish we could
have changed our course
that we could turn back the clock and date,
but no, 'tis far, far to late,
for the arrow has long since into the receivers heart been blasted,
the cruel barb into the psyche deeply twisted./
It was not for nought the very wise ones of yore
taught continually the need to live by the good law,
to watch constantly our every word and deed,
pay attention to the undercurrents of life
and to its deep heart to give heed./
